Are Parents Overprotecting Their Children From Sex As A Recent Book Suggests?

May 08, 2002

Years ago I would have outraged upon hearing the content of feminist Judith Levine's irr
responsible and immoral book Harmful to Minors. After reading it I can say, with anguish, that the horrors that it endorses - criminal acts of sexual relations between adults and children, child molestation and abuse under the guise of “the perils of protecting children from sex”, is sickening, but not surprising.

Fifteen years of deliberate assaults on the sensibilities of children run through my mind. While reading the former Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders’ foreword, I remembered her sexuality education from K-12, abortion on demand, distribution of condoms and health clinics for minors that offered contraceptives, the “morning after pill”, condoms, and more.

I remembered the graphic Family Life/Sex Education supported by Sex Information Council of the United States (SIECUS) that is acknowledged in Levine’s book. Their tactics were to cause children to become independent of their parents. I thought of the courses “Changing Bodies” and “AIDs Awareness” that sent destructive messages and introduced children to “flavored condoms”.

As a gubernatorial candidate I called for the restructuring of Georgia’s foster care system because 433 children had died while in state care. My study for a task force on child abuse was disregarded even though 70,000 cases of child abuse were recorded.

Today, worldwide, child sex trade is an epidemic. “Reproductive health” and “redefining of the family” dangers lurk at the up-coming United Nations Child Summit in New York. The U.S. Supreme Court, in a ruling that went against all logic, labeled computer generated child pornography as “art” and the Catholic Church is awash in child rape and molestation.

So is it any wonder that Levine, who has no children, exploits the last vestige of innocence- children? The stage was set. Morality has been purged.

Dr. James Dobson, Founder and President of Focus on the Family said recently that “there are many… who see in children an opportunity to change the culture…” Judith Levine’s book seeks to do just that. But the Bible, in the book of Matthew, says that whoever causes a little one to stumble, it is better that a mill stone be hung around his neck and that he be drowned in the depth of the sea.

In light of the tragic events of September 11th in New York and Washington D.C., Family Concerns, Inc. is issuing a special prayer Alert. It is critical that we exercise our weapons of power and prayer in the spiritual realm.

In light of our comfortable life style and our nation's broken spiritual covenant with God, we must mobilize in prayer and call for a solemn assembly. Prayer is our greatest weapon and we still have our weapons in our hands. To survive we must return to our spiritual roots.

Beginning Friday, September 21st, we invite all Christians to pray for our nation and continue praying for the duration of the war, but especially for the next two weeks with the threat of more possible terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.

Please pray for the President, his advisors, the cabinet, all law enforcement and security officers.

Please plead the precious blood of Jesus over our airports, our borders and all entrances into our country. Weep and surrender to the will of God. Take your stand against any biochemical attack in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray for the military forces already deployed and all those American sons and daughters on stand-by.

Organize your church, your Sunday School, your prayer group, Bible study group or your e-mail list to begin praying on Friday and if possible seek to have every hour covered in prayer.

As you pray for a nation on high alert remember these words:

"...not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord." (Zach 4:6)

"Wherefore take unto you the whole Armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day... (Eph 6:13)

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you with my eye upon you." (Ps 32:8)

"Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand" (Is 41:10)

"No weapon formed against thee shall prosper" (Is 54:17)

We serve an awesome God. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. To Him be all glory and honor

P.S. This is a few days late reaching you as we have experienced computer trouble. But prayer for the nation and our leadership is so very critical at this time, we are sending the Prayer Alert on to you.

Thank You. God Bless you.
