| TODAY,
ACLU VS HABERSHAM COUNTY IS ARGUED IN COURT
Friday, October 17, 2003
Today is Friday, October 17, 2003. On Monday October 20th, Habersham
County, Georgia’s ACLU vs. Habersham will be argued in court.
When I stop to comprehend that what I have seen coming is actually
happening in America I still cannot believe it. We are a nation
with all the historical proof anyone could ever want to prove, our
Christian heritage and Christian foundation.
Notwithstanding I am encouraged by the responses we received from
the Governor of Georgia and from Georgia’s Congressional leadership.
Following are a few excerpts from several of their letters.
Governor Sonny Perdue: “As you here today, and millions upon
millions of citizens across America know, ours is a nation founded
on freedom of religion, not freedom from religion…A small
minority would wish to use this issue to divide us and pursue an
agenda of separation and intolerance. We must not let them succeed.”
Congressman Mac Collins: “Throughout our nation’s history,
our leaders have recognized God, his laws, and His blessing on our
nation. In the founding of America, our nation’s early leaders
never sought to keep the church out of
the state; rather, they crafted a Constitution to keep the state
out of the church and, thus, protect the rights of all Americans
to worship according to their own convictions. Now thee are those
within our nation, within constitutional offices, that would seek
to dismiss this nation’s history and the Christian principles
upon which it was founded. Specifically, they have sought to undermine
the right of states to post the Ten Commandments…most notably
the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals issued a court order…to
remove a Ten Commandments monument…from the Alabama Supreme
Court building. The Court not only wrongly interpreted the established
clause of the Constitution; it also ignored the role of Christian
principles in the founding of our nation. It is these very principles,
embodied in the Ten Commandments that are the bases for a legal
system that seeks to protect life, liberty, and property for all
Americans.
Senator Zell Miller:” the way I see it, this is about more
than a display of the Ten Commandments in a courthouse or a nativity
scene in front of the City Hall at Christmas. It is about the right
of the American people to acknowledge one Creator in a public place.
Your prayers and fasting are needed for Monday morning when the
lawsuit filed
by the ACLU, Bo Turner, and Greg Holder is argued in court in Gainesville,
Georgia.
Also, rest assured, should we lose, this is just the first step.
We will not sit down,
give up, or shut up until we have the victory.
