EDUCATION IN AMERICA - PART I
Wednesday, March 24, 2004

As far back as the mid 1980’s I have been concerned about the U.S. educational system. I have written articles and expressed my fear over the education of our children to alter their home-taught values.

In 1994, I wrote a long article and spoke to the content at a Southern Baptist Convention Seminar on “The Family in Crisis.”

My article was written on “Outcome Based Education”, better known as OBE, it’s
origin, its purpose, and its consequences.

At the time of writing this article, I was convinced that there existed in the U.S. an educational elite made up of government educational engineers, educational professors and experts, and tax exempt foundations. I believe it to be true today and that is why OBE was implemented across the nation. At this same time, parents were struggling with whole language (which proved to be a failure), change agents, values clarification, self-esteem courses, inappropriate sex education, death education, exercises in psychic ability, visualization and relaxation techniques.

Mothers were calling me to tell me their children’s school had been turned into a National Education Association (NEA) lab school with a proposal that “the program would center on practitioners willing to march to the beat of different drums.” The mothers soon found out the drumbeat was OBE or Mastery Learning which was conceived by William Spady and was to become the cornerstone of GOALS 2000, the Educate America Act.

In 1993, The Maryland Department of Education planned to give an 87-question “Youth Risk Behavior Survey” to high students. Two sample questions were: (l) “Did you drink alcohol or use drugs before you had sexual intercourse the last time?”, and (2) “If you attempted suicide, did any attempt result in an injury, poisoning or overdose…?”

This survey was developed in 1990 and promoted by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). It was pushed, even though parents were pulling the walls down, and an estimated 40 states participated in the graphic survey.

200 Educators from 30 states and Canada gathered in Denver, Colorado in 1993 to attend a 3 day I/D/E/A Institute on how to respond to right wing pressure groups. The keynote speaker was Michael Hudson, vice president
of the liberal, anti-Christian, “People for the American Way”. The many presenters at the event linked the “religious right” to Hitler’s Nazism and racism.

This is the first in a series of commentaries on education in America leading up to the “New Civics,” another word for “Global Government”. Please try to hear each of the next four commentaries and learn how the “New Civics” textbook is teaching attitudes and acceptance of multiculturalism, a compromise for truth, liberty, and property.
