SUPERBOWL HALFTIME:  MORAL PERVERSION
Thursday, February 05, 2004

I rarely watch the Super Bowl game. If we have family around to watch the game, I help prepare for the gathering, watch portions and eventually move on to something more to my liking.

Sunday was different. I was weary. I found a comfortable spot and watched most of the first half. The grandchildren gathered around to watch the half time show.

Did they see great marching bands with lights, color and talented kids? Oh no, they saw a depraved hip-hop music industry selling sexual images gyrating, bumping, and grinding.

Singer Justine Timberlake, pulled off part of Janet Jackson’s costume as he sang the lyrics, “I’m Gonna Have You Naked by the End of This Song,” exposing her breast, which sported a metal decoration. According to World Net Daily –
the show included: a performer fondling his crotch; striptease cheerleaders; gyrating transvestites; simulated lesbian sex; and Jackson and Timberlake groping each other.

This my friends was exported around the world by CBS and into Iraq for all the troops, not to mention all the children and youth watching. CBS has offered an apology and MTV will be excluded in the future. However, indications are that the incidents were planned.

Even commercials were tasteless and vulgar. In one a chimp asks his owner to go upstairs and have sex.

These obscene sexual performers were totally lacking in any value. A subculture
was being sold to our youth out of which many will not survive. Remember the
“Lost Children of Rockdale County?”

Ghetto hip-hop group sex has entered your living room with its rebellion and disrespect and it is being marketed. Like Abercrombie and Fitch, the language of
a neo-pagan sexualized culture is now out in the open with its corrupting merchandise for children and youth.

To Rupert Murdock, Disney, Viacom, and AOL/Time Warner – teens represent
money - money to build up big empires while pulling the culture down to an all time low.

How much will we be forced to endure? Where are parents today? Where is the
church? Will Congress finally say enough is enough? Michael Powell, Chairman of
the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) called the Super Bowl half time a “deplorable stunt,” but wasn’t he ready to give a stamp of approval to the “F” word?

Children and youth deserve better. Why must they grow up in this insane culture?
We must demand change if we are to survive.
