| A
PALESTINIAN STATE AND THE 2004 ELECTION
Friday, January 16, 2004
Will a Palestinian State be established in 2004 regardless of the
consequence? According to the Jerusalem Newswire, Israel has acceded
to a Bush administration demand that an interim Palestinian State
be established in the entire
Gaza Strip and most of Judea and Samaria during 2004. It appears
the state will come into being whether or not Palestinian terrorism
continues and whether or not the Palestinian Authority cracks down
on the terror groups.
It is believed that the establishment of a Palestinian State will
have a powerfully positive effect on President Bush’s aspirations
for re-election.
The U.S. proposal for Israel to recognize an interim Palestinian
State was predicted in the Washington sponsored Road Map plan. However,
the Road Map stipulated that an end be brought to terrorism and
a dismantling of the terrorist infrastructure. This has not happened.
Prime Minister Sharon, according to the Middle East News Line (MENL)
has accepted a U.S. proposal for an interim Palestinian state in
2004, regardless of the agreement to end the more than 3-year-old
war and dismantle Palestinian insurgency groups. If the report
is true, Israel, long the champion of combating terrorism and never
willing to negotiate with terrorists will be rewarding Palestinian
Arabs’ years of murdering Jews with a state bought with precious
blood. Palestinians will have won with the same old promise to end
terrorism in exchange for Gaza and Jericho. Never did they plan
for a moment to keep the promise.
Terrorists have butchered more than 1000 Israelis and many are
injured and maimed for life.
Has this administration asked Israel to risk self-destruction in
order to ensure an election victory? I don’t know but God
does – and He will not stand by and allow His land to be divided.
The Lord will not forsake His people…
