NEW YEAR'S DAY 2004
Thursday , January 01, 2004

I’m not big into resolutions, but as our world changes around us we might make some resolutions for 2004 that should keep down stress and help us and our family members prosper.

I trust you sang “Auld Lang Syne” last night at midnight, welcomed in a New Year and prayed that you might serve the Lord in a greater capacity in the New Year than ever before. We do not know what is in stone for us in 2004, but here are a few decision-resolutions you might consider to
better prepare you for anything.

1. Keep up with regular visits to the doctor. Staying healthy is most important. Catching ailments early is critical. Mammograms, colon, prostate screenings are available. Keep up with your health and your exercise.

2. Lose a few pounds. Just cut out some sugar and white flour would do that. Take time to chew food longer. Do not hurry through a meal. Savor your bites. This will help digestion and prevent heartburn, not to mention help in weight loss that is important for your health.

3. Get more sleep. Loss of sleep robs you of your energy and puts you at risk for health problems. Make it a rule in 2004 that you will get six to eight hours of sleep each night.

4. Be sure to wash your hands. Protect yourself and others from many infectious diseases. Wash your hands before a meal, after using a restroom, when you prepare food, after handling animals, and when you or others are sick. Wash your hands with soap and water, not with just a little drop of water.

5. Make a difference in this world in the New Year. Do not whine about all that is wrong. Speak up and speak out. Take a stand for all that is right and pure. Hold elected officials feet to the fire. Stay informed on issues!

6. Be conscience of letting others see Jesus in you. It is hard today for many to see or hear anything about God and eternity. Be Jesus to as many people as possible. Tell them the good news of Christ.

7. Hold your family close. Tell them how very important they are in your life. Guard your tongue. Ask for forgiveness where needed. Mend relationships. Be willing to forgive as an act of your will.

8. Set your “quiet time” and keep it. It will make an enormous difference in your day. The Lord in interested in every thing that concerns you. Talk with Him. He is your Counselor, your refuge, your healer, your wisdom, your comforter, your strength and your courage. Stay in His Word.

These are manageable goals that will benefit you and your family. Jot them down.

Pray about them and remember: John 15: 7 “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”

Let’s be abiding when He comes.
